Costa Mesa, CA

I interviewed for a firm four blocks from the beach on Newport Blvd. From what I can tell most of the rent in the area is in the $1,700+ range but I have managed to find a few places that advertise dog-friendly one bedrooms from $1,100 - $1,550 within a 10 minute drive of the firm.

I'm supposed to get a call back this week to see if they want to fly me out for a one-on-one interview. Costa Mesa isn't LA, but hey, my wife likes it more and if I can get a rad job I'm sure I can make it work.

Ok, I'm less scared about finding a job in SoCal today. Don't know if it's because I meditated a little on it or finally got some sleep last night but I feel better. I feel like more is right with the world. I hope to be in a moving van on my way to California 45 days from now. 45 days to get my act together and pack up my life in CO. Wish me luck.

I recently learned that a lot of the architecture firms in Los Angeles are located in the following four places: Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Pacific Palisades and Culver City. Guaging from my suspected income, I can't afford to live in any of them. I think my best bet is going to be to find a place in West LA. They go for around $2 a square foot.

no joke

My efforts to post on this blog have been a joke thus far. I promise to make more frequent posts from here on out. Having fully committed to moving to LA I've recently discovered a lot about where to live and where not to live in the city. I'm going to end this post here but start another on the topic immediately.
